  • Hanging art galore. Works by Peter Berlin, Ross Bleckner, Arthur Tress and others.
  • Lovely garden access and a warm sunny neighborhood most of the year.
  • Much that San Francisco has to offer is actually walkable from this central location.
  • 1960s 1:25th scale promos and split-level dollhouses!

Classic 105-year old flat with eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, living room, and bedroom with adjacent study, bathroom and water closet. Mid-century furnished, this second-floor flat is light-filled and cheery. There is a lovely well-maintained garden in the rear. The appliances are modern professional style in a 1950’s era kitchen without dish washer. The flat has mercifully escaped other major renovations so Edwardian details remain for the most part. Located in one of SF’s sunnier neighborhoods. The study has a new gas fireplace which keeps it and the bedroom toasty during the damp winter months. The sun-splashed Kitchen has an equally bright pantry and glass windows framing the enclosed back porch. Although there is no in-house washer and dryer, wash and fold services are within a block. The apartment is filled with contemporary art and a collection of antique toys from the 1960s. Once a week house cleaning services from a living-wage company is $110.00 per visit or you may bow-out of the service.

The location is perfect! Just a few blocks from Castro and Mission district attractions, and the Lower Haight. Dolores Park is 3 blocks away and three MUNI metro stops within 2 blocks. Location has a near-perfect walking score, abundant restaurant choices, an independent bookstore, and two independent movie houses that are within a seven minute walk.

Peter and Michael's flat is a perfect home base for a great stay in San Francisco: fantastic location in the Castro very convenient to public transportation, lots of great restaurants and cafes in the neighborhood and a fabulous little coffee shop right across the street that will become your go to spot. The apartment itself is very unique and quite spacious. It's almost like staying in a well curated gallery space of 2 very design savvy world travelers. The incredibly cool collection of vintage toy cars is just the beginning...I'll keep the rest a surprise. There's a lovely garden in back and a really interesting mural on the wall in the front near the side of the building. Never a dull moment when it comes to street art in this neighborhood. Michael and Peter couldn't have been better swap partners and were happy to share lots of details about their neighborhood and SF in general. I'm really looking forward to future swaps with these greats guys!!
