What we have to offer you is a recently remodeled luxurious top duplex of about 1400 sq. foot/140 sq. meters. It is located on a romantic square in the center of town. Although our building originated in 1890, it is recently renovated and has all the modern amenities that make life comfortable. On our first floor, which is the third floor of the building, you’ll find a living room, diningroom, study (with computer) kitchen and half bathroom. The stairs to the second floor will take you to two bedrooms with each their own bathroom, a second study and a laundry area. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. The other bedroom has an en suite bathroom with toilet and shower. The cosy living room and study have a view over the gardens of the canal houses that are on the Keizersgracht canal, the lightfilled diningroom faces the Amstelveld and the Prinsengracht canal. One of the bedrooms offers access to the roof terrace. This bedroom also has a kitchenette with coffee maker, oven and fridge, just to keep your drinks cool if you are on the balcony. Besides walking or using our two bikes, there are several public transport lines within walking distance to take you to other parts of the city or to several trainstations to explore other parts of our country. It’s a great place to experience Amsterdam living; to relax and be inspired at the same time.

Amsterdam is an easy going city, known for it’s museums, music, ballet and opera performances, as well as architecture and canals. Although it offers everything a big city has to offer, it has a pleasant, small city feel to it. Everything is in walking distance and if you’re in a hurry, you take your bike. Our home is within walking distance of the major museums, restaurants, shops, cafe’s and markets. If you want to go out of town, the coast is a 27 minute trainride away, with beaches, restaurants and walks in the dunes or woods to choose from. Also cities like Delft, The Hague and Rotterdam are within easy reach by train for daytrips. And when you are back, with 176 nationalities living in Amsterdam, there are many international restaurants to pick for a great meal. When in Amsterdam be sure to do as the Amsterdammers, buy yourself some flowers and have a coffee, or something stronger, at one of the many terraces in the city and watch the world go by. Should you not get enough of it, go to a cafe at night to have a local beer called Heineken or someting else you prefer. All in all, Amsterdam is a great city to explore with all your senses.

We thoroughly enjoyed being "Amsterdammers" in Koos and Cees' apartment for three weeks in August 2012 while they enjoyed our home in the San Francisco. Their home is beautiful and very comfortable. The neighborhood is fantastic. It was so easy to walk, bike or take the tram to anywhere in Amsterdam. The neighborhood is filled with fantastic cafes and shops. Koos and Cees were wonderful hosts and arranged to meet us when arrived. They also left us excellent instructions on what to see and do in their beautiful city. We will never forget our wonderful stay in Amsterdam and hope to return soon.

We met Koos & Cees on HATW noting that they wanted to visit NYC. After my inquiry in August, 2013 and their positive response, we had extensive email exchanges. Koos even visited us in Brooklyn when he was in NYC for an overnight flight. We became very friendly – sharing ideas and tips about our respective cites. In April/May 2014, we finally exchanged our Brooklyn, NY apartment with Koos & Cees for their beautiful two-story townhouse in the center of Amsterdam for 2-1/2 weeks in April/May 2014. Their location is perfect, their home is extremely well appointed, and Lisa & I felt very welcome and very supported there. We needed to stay in Amsterdam for a longer period of time, so they kindly invited us to stay, as an extension of our exchange, in their guest room, which had a kitchen of its own and all the necessary amenities – including a balcony! We enjoyed socializing with Koos & Cees, but also respecting boundaries and all having private time from each other, too. It was a wonderful balance, and we became friends – and more importantly, family. The home exchange family is broad, and we meet folks all the time who touch us, but Koos & Cees are very special indeed.

We were lucky enough to spend 12 days at Koos and Cee's beautiful home. The apartment, setting, neighborhood and location are perfect. Everything is within walking distance and the neighborhood shops and restaurants are excellent. Their home is large, bright, airy, beautifully equipped and furnished. They are located in an historic building fronting a park and the canal. It's a magical setting.
I corresponded with Koos and met him on a business trip here in Los Angeles. On the day I was leaving for Amsterdam, I met both Koos and Cees here at my place. They are warm, welcoming and a pleasure to spend time with. They even drove me to the airport!
Their instructions for their home were thorough and easy to understand. You can not go wrong exchanging with Koos and Cees. I look forward to our remaining friends in future.
