Highlights

  • Shabby chic bold decor combined with the old charme of a Mansion

We live in a section of a 15th century old mansion painted in the typical “giallo Milano” (a yellow color named after the peculiar shade of yellow of the ancient houses in Milan), with hardwood ceiling and an affresco on the staircase. The apartment, of about 100 squared metres, has just been renovated. It used to be a barn and has hardwood ceiling which I painted total white and real, dark wengé hardwood floors.
Our apartment is on the first floor, but under the roof ( no lift were allowed to be built in, since the mansion is architecturally preserved by Beaux Art commission and actually there is no need for that); it’s located on the north-east outskirts of the inner city, in a multi-ethinic and diverse populated area.
Besides the master bedroom and closet-room, there is a very large living space equipped with two facing sofas and a dinner table suitable to up to 6 people in the dining area.
In a separated section of the living room there is a comfortable queen size bed and a nice armchairs corner, surrounded by plants.
Totally sunny, the whole place is brightened up by natural light coming through two wide skylights and overall 6 windows at the four directions.
There are the following facilities: a fully equipped kitchen (regular oven, microwave oven, dishwasher) and a laundry area (washing machine, dryer, ironing board).
The apartment is a 5 minutes’ walk to the nearest light railway station ( like the RER in Paris or the S-Bahn in Berlin), the stop is called “Milano Certosa”.
This station is only 4 stops from the very city center (Milan is indeed not so big a city, after all), about 12 -15 minutes’ trip, intersecting the three regular underground lines and running from very early morning till over midnight.

Milan is living a second youth and experiecing a boosting energy after the Expo Exibition of 2015, preserving, nevertheless, the charme and style of an italian city. As many know, the city comes the centre of the world for a few days during the fashion weeks- 4 times a year- and the international design exhibition – Salone del Mobile in April each year. Milan enjoys a quite vibrant gay nightlife, I would say for each tastes, practically every night of the week.
My apartment is also conveniently located to get from Milan to the famous lakes ( Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore – Varese) are only 30/45 minutes’ drive; Lago di Garda, one and an half hours as the house is located not far from the highway to the lakes).
For those who are interested, the apartment is only one light railway stop from Exhibitions’site Rho Fiera, where Salone del Mobile and other worls famous trade fairs are held.
