Built in 1490 in a charming, picturesque position we offer a haven in which to unwind, relax and discover the intricate charm of Hastings and 1066 Country.
Our guest rooms are tastefully furnished to an extremely high standard, each one providing comfort, luxury and elegance. Individually designed, with relaxation in mind, all our bedrooms are ensuite with a choice of either a bathroom or shower room.
As a founder Local Sussex Breakfast provider, we are proud of our varied and tantalizing gourmet menu, the main ingredients of which are sourced locally where possible.
Our dairy products come from Northiam Dairy in Rye, our free range Lohmann eggs from Netherfield, and our bacon and sausages from award winning Archers in Westfield. Our kippers and haddock are from Peter’s Eastern fish shop in Hastings Old Town.
Be sure to try our locally made Strawberry & Pomegranate Jam, or Citrus Marmalade, prepared locally by Preserves of Hastings.
We offer a variety of starters, including Greek yoghurt with prunes and honey, fresh fruit smoothies or organic muesli.
Play & location
Swan House is nestled in the heart of peaceful, yet bustling, Hastings Old Town with its eclectic mix of antique and junk shops, quirky art galleries, unique jewellers and second hand book shops.
For food, Hastings is one of the best places to enjoy freshly prepared fish and chips. There are a wealth of pubs and a fine range of good quality restaurants to suit all budgets and occasions. We are always happy to make recommendations.
“Effortless style drifts through the beamed rooms of this boutiquey B&B in a 1490s bakery, from a roaring inglenook fireplace to an honesty bar in a mock bookcase – all run by relaxed creative hosts Brendan and Lionel. Bedrooms hold surprises: Elizabethan frescoes, an old pulley for bags of flour, a window seat, seashell mosaics and handmade soaps.
Step out into lively Old Hastings, wander down to see fishing boats tucked in for the night or find an antiques bargain. Pick a morning paper; breakfast like kings on organic croissants and local kippers. Unique.”
