My apartment is a one bedroom, sunny apartment in the center of Paris, on the Canal St. Martin. It is 40 square meters with an equipped kitchen, a spacious shower, washing machine and live-in guardian. There is wifi and a nice sound system. Built in about 1900, it has all the charms of an old Parisian building.
There is a very comfortable double bed and the couch is long/large enough to sleep one adult comfortably.
There are several metro stops within walking distance, but the closest is Rébublique, one of the city’s main hubs. It is also close to the Gare du Nord, offering quick access to both airports. In brief, you can get anywhere easily from this location.
The apartment is located right on the canal, where you can take nice walks or have a drink on one of the many terraces. The traffic on the upper half of the canal is closed to traffic on Sundays so you can rent a city bike and go for a ride without worrying about safety. The neighborhood is full of amazing restaurants, shops and cafés.
The Marais is within walking distance, as is the Georges Pompidou Center and the beautiful Butte Chaumont park. Down the canal towards the Bastille is a small area with antique shops. On Sunday mornings the Bastille hosts one of the best outdoor markets in Paris, essentially on the same street as my apartment. There are other outdoor markets closer to the apartment on Tuesdays and Fridays, and frequent outdoor flea markets on the weekends. It really is a great neighborhood.
On Saturday nights there are two or three gay parties within walking distance – La Java, Scream and Crazyvore/Follivore.
