Dear Joseph and Douglas,
My boyfriend Jerry and I live in a beautiful, spacious two-bedroom apartment conveniently situated in the heart of New York City. We are both adventurous, trustworthy, friendly, fun loving guys who would love to visit Sydney and make new friends, ideally sometime in August, although we are open to other suggestions.
I work in Manhattan as an Account Executive (advertising), while my boyfriend teaches film history. We have family in Australia, which is one of our reasons for visiting.
Enclosed, you will find some photos and a diagram of our place. It’s in the heart of Greenwich Village, which is a safe, quiet neighborhood in south Manhattan. The subwayn is close, as are many gay points of interest.
Having seen your online listing we’d like to discuss setting up a possible home exchange with you. It appears to be a wonderful home and one where we would feel quite comfortable.

Thanks for your letter regarding our listing with Home Around The World.
We’d love to come and take another bite of the Big Apple, having only visited NYC once before, and that for only a day!
We were hoping to visit New York in early September, as a friend of ours in Boston will be celebrating her birthday around then. While we would prefer to exchange our home with yours at that time, it might not be wholly convenient, in which case the option of sharing might be one you’d like to consider. We have room here in Sydney to return the favour – have you ever been to Mardi Gras (February) before? Maybe you’d like to visit us then; it’s a fabulous time of year.
The material you sent us has been very helpful and shows that your home is situated just perfectly for us. We’ve also enclosed photos of our home, plus a map of the gay heart of Sydney. I hope it is useful to you as you plan your vacation.
I was interested to read that Jerry teaches film history since I (34 years old) freelance as a writer in film criticism. We should talk! My boyfriend Joe (33) is a manager of a hotel, which is located nearby. His passion lies with dance music and we organise dance parties on a semi-regular basis.
You probably read that we have a cat. She’s a gorgeous, easy-going creature but I don’t know if you like pets or not. We can arrange for her to stay elsewhere, unless you’d like some company during your time in Sydney.
